The TV series is definitely worth checking out. It’s not that great of a cartoon, but it’s bizarre enough to provoke some unintentional laughs. One of the cool things is that, each episode has about 10-15 cameo appearances from different GPK characters, so it’s kinda like a “Where’s Waldo” for GPK fanatics. I guess you could say it’s comparable to the old Madballs VHS specials.

I still haven’t got to see much of the series, I still need to track it down. I’m still confused why parents lobbied to have it banned, because it seems a lot tamer than the cards. As nightmare fuel, the suits are supremely effective – if they were in anything else, I would have been all for it. I’m a huge GPK nerd (kind of a huge nerd in general), so I was a lot harder on them. Heh heh – what if I missed the joke, and this was all a brilliant piece of meta humor at the entire world’s expense, a disturbing ironic prank on tie-in movies maybe? I wish I had considered that first, because with that perspective, it’s brilliant.

I agree, with Pez at the helm, this could be truly amazing. I do have a soft spot in my heart though for the grotesque quality of the original. Something about those puppets are so disturbing and creepy, and it’s easily one of the most inappropriate films ever made for kids. What did you think of the animated series?

Great review! Been searching for other people’s thoughts on this treasure of a film. Its hard to sum it up in a nutshell but I think you came pretty close with the words “fierce and bizarre”.
